HELP!
(Some certain) Finns got unleashed! *laughs* Ok, much wanted!
Last year’s sold out tour in support of their most recent
record Skyforger was utmost successful for AMORPHIS. And
this year it does not look any better ;) Celebrating their 20th
anniversary AMORPHIS have released a best-of compilation
entitled Magic & Mayhem - Tales From The Early Years
and now want to party with the fans on a one month going winter
tour. As I expected many show got sold out in a twinkling of an
eye, what might be due the excellent support package consisting
of the beloved Finns GHOST BRIGADE and Israeli metallers
ORPHANED LAND. Yes! I anyway attended immediately to the
business stuff and made it to be there :) Just to say it right
here: This show ended up to be one of the top 3 in 2010!

              Together with
lovely Wiebke we spared no pains taking the winterly highway at
frosty temperatures towards Bochum. We arrived super early but
already had to face long lines of waiting people. Nope, we preferred
to stay in our warm car till the doors opened. Although sold out
and with tons of fans waiting outside of Zeche
Bochum we got in extremely fast. Cool. As squirrelly as
we were we took our place in the photopit eagerly awaiting the
                kick-off…

              Opening the
very last show on tour ::
                GHOST
BRIGADE :: some sort of pulled the short straw.
They only got the usual 30 minutes of stage time, what means the
same short setlist. Bummer! Nevertheless, the show was awesome,
once again and the three chicks in the photopit collectively lapsed
into swinging and swaying, with totally lost in reverie *lol*
feedback by the crowd was reserved at first but became more complaisant
with every new song. Blessedly smiling faces, me too :) I bet
GHOST BRIGADE made a lot of new fans tonight. Merchandise
anyway got sold quickly and I… was left empty handed. Such
a great and stunning show… *sighs*
Setlist: Deliberately, My Heart Is A Tomb, Into The
Black Light, Lost In A Loop, Suffocated, 22:22 Nihil, A Storm
                Inside

              Seems like
                :: ORPHANED
LAND :: did not take prisoners this summer. They
took Europe by storm and so they did with the audience tonight.
I saw them first time at Rock Hard Festivals and was just blown
away. Their blend of modern music, metal to be exactly, and -
partly oriental - history goes down pretty well. It’s something
new and fresh and people seem to love it ;) Singer Kobi Farhi
and drummer Matan Shmuely perform in traditional clothing, what
again leaves Kobi to mention at the beginning of The Kiss Of
Babylon: „…and I’m not Jesus!“ Well,
agreed! ;) With the first tones of Sapari and at the end
of the band’s set a belly dancer appeared on stage but I
have to confess, the drummer had the sexier swiveling hips :)
The sold out venue is enthused and fell for them, what makes ORPHANED
LAND really, really happy :) Awesome!
Setlist: In Thy Never Ending Way, Barakah, The Kiss
Of Babylon, Birth Of The Three, Olat Ha’tamid, Sapari, From
Broken Vessels, Ocean Land, Norra El Norra, Ornaments Of Gold

              Ok then…
here we are, yeah!!! Time has come and there is no room anymore,
neither for women, men or mice :: AMORPHIS
:: get in with Skyforger, the title track of
their last record and the Zeche totally freaks out. Woah! Incredible.
And so it goes on, with every new track played. Only Black
Winter Day no one wanted really to hear. But we also get a
lot of old stuff ;) Singer Tomi Joutsen seems to be a bit exhausted,
he acts not that lively as we know him at his best moments. But
he makes us laughing with his… erm… micro… or
is it a hair-blower though? Hahahaha. Anyway, AMORPHIS
are not allowed to leave without an encore, screams and shouts
are vehement. Willingly granted ;) Three more songs and at the
end the entire tour crew enters the stage to say thank you to
the fans. But… ain’t we the ones who have to say thank
you? For this outstanding show? However, applause is frenetic
but an end is an end. Over and out! Damn! *sighs*
What I missed were jokes. Isn’t it common to play jokes
on the bands on stage on the very last day? But there was nothing.
Hm. AMORPHIS also did not show up after the show at the
merch. Too bad. Wille of Ghost Brigade was there, all alone selling
shirts, and the Orphaned Land, the only ones talking to the fans
;) Well, you can’t have it all, right? It was a marvelous
evening, an amazing concert and a great finale. Hell yes, a night
we will talk about long time ;)
Setlist: Skyforger, Sky Is Mine, From The Heaven Of
My Heart, The Smoke, Better Unborn, Song Of The Troubled One,
Exile Of The Sons Of Uisliu, Silent Waters, Alone, My Sun, Silver
Bride, Black Winter Day // Into Hiding, House Of Sleep, My Kantele
