HALOR
– solid start with Power Metal
Wow, what a hot weather! The 30 degrees on this early afternoon
did not stop the Hungarians and they welcomed us with Power Metal,
which sounded very melodic but at the same time quite unspectacularly.
The twin-guitar solos made an able impression and the band enjoyed
the performance, although only two handfuls of visitors joined
them on their acoustic ride.

LOST
DREAMS – music with Swedish touch from Tyrol
Afterwards, LOST DREAMS started their set in very motivated
manner. The program was highlighted by the songs of the very good
album End Of Time and the throttled concluding track
Where God’s Creation Ends. The one or other reminiscence
to Sweden was obvious, a few riffs and partly the atmosphere seemed
like a bowing before the mighty Peter Tägtgren – and
this is a compliment for sure! On top of everything, the guys
presented a brand-new song called Silent Death, which is
featured on the coming release in autumn.

OUTRAGE
– Styrian blood contains metal
I cannot stand still during a concert of these East Styrian group,
because the well alternated and massive rhythmic Death Metal catches
me directly by the throat. Singer Max chose a tattoo showing the
title of their best song entitled Switch Off The Pain,
which was one of the downright hymns on this festival. Additionally,
the sound and technical abilities showed up as brownie points
and consequently the performance was a real success. OUTRAGE
will come up with an album in October and I am looking forward
to it!

HATE
– Death Metal with obvious influences
After a few seconds it was clear: the younger brothers of Behemoth
seemed to have entered the stage. Not only the sound, but also
the acting and the outfit reminded me of their idols. The hefty
attacks were loosened by some borne interplays – and these
breathers disrupted the concert’s flow a bit. The stomping
and best track called Resurrection Machine animated to
unleashed head-banging, because the grooving energy was really
intoxicating.

VOMITORY
– massive, but a little bit static
Very low-tuned guitars, growled vocals, blast beats and a little
bit of groove – that’s the way we like VOMITORY.
Unfortunately the stage performance turned out to be less active,
but the lumbering music balanced this deficit. Well, after a while
the songs seemed to be quite monotonous, but in the end the band
presented the best song Blood Rapture, which alternated
concerning rhythm and stayed in my mind. In my opinion, the band
lacks of charisma and action to play in Death Metal Premier League.

DARK
FORTRESS – an outstanding voice and goose-pimps-sentiments
Black Metal can be beautiful and at the same time full of power
and ferocity. The band stemming from Landshut showed how perfect
demanding sounds, rude power and atmosphere can be combined. The
vocals by Morean are not made for everyone’s ears, but distinctive.
Besides, he attaches a desperate facet to his range, which surprised
me. The winners of the evening: the cascade-like augmenting songs
from the sensational latest album Eidolon.

ROTTEN
SOUND – there’s something rotten in the state
of Finland
Do you like a bit of Grindcore or a pinch of groovy Death Metal?
The crazy Finns offered about 28 songs of sheer brutality and
during their concert, hefty rhythms as well as a huge portion
of joy in playing stood in the foreground. Technical extravaganzas?
No way, but the mostly short eruptions did not miss out impelling
effects. This intensity seemed to be quite exhausting, but the
audience cheered till the end without showing signs of fatigue.
MELECHESH
– surprisingly catchy and musically mighty
What a surprise! I do not really like the complicated sound on
disc, the songs are made for close listening…but on stage;
MELECHESH showed another face. The nice choice of songs
and the impelling performance were responsible for the lightning
spark. “This is real mighty” I thought by myself and
all other fans oscillated between enjoyed listening and ecstatic
head-banging. I also appreciated the likable and not overacted
evil performance.

DARK
TRANQUILLITY – feeble concerts are played by other bands
I can’t think of a more congenial group than DARK TRANQUILLITY!
Mikael Stanne jumped up and down on stage, performed in very intense
style as usual. It is really unbelievable, how motivated the Swedes
impress their fans every time anew, no matter if the crowd is
about 200 or 10 000 people…and even late in the night, the
crowd was animated to the limit. Apart from the brilliant music,
the perfect light-show contributed to a concert without deficits.
These court 90 minutes turned out to be a delicacy for ears and
eyes. A more than dignified headliner!!!
